About

Engineer first, leader by necessity.

I'm Ghazi Ben Dahmane, a software engineer and Head of R&D in Paris. I lead the architecture and delivery of Amundi's enterprise AI platform — and I still stay close to the code.

Portrait of Ghazi Ben Dahmane

My path started in Tunis — distributed systems, media platforms, QA automation — and continued in Paris through fintech, assessment products, and asset management. Since 2021 at Amundi, I went from building the ESG scoring platform (ALTO Sustainability) to leading ALTO Studio R&D: a 25-engineer team running 15+ production AI services for 6,500 users.

That trajectory shaped how I work: platform engineering for reliability, product thinking for adoption, and technical leadership for scale. I believe internal platforms win when product teams can integrate AI in days without rebuilding infrastructure — with visible costs, enforced governance, and docs that actually help.

Outside the day job, I write about enterprise AI architecture on this blog, experiment with agentic development workflows, and share practices with the developer community.

How I work

  • Stable APIs over demos. Teams need contracts they can build on, not notebooks.
  • Governance by default. Permissions, budgets, and observability are part of the platform, not add-ons.
  • Adoption is the metric. Docs, examples, and support determine whether a platform lives.
  • Costs must be visible. Per-team spend transparency keeps AI fundable.
  • Stay close to the code. Architecture without implementation detail drifts.

What I can help with

AI platform architecture

Platform boundaries, LLM gateways, RAG and knowledge systems, APIs, and operating models for regulated environments.

Adoption & enablement

Reusable components, documentation, cost governance, and engineering practices that get product teams shipping with AI.

Engineering leadership

R&D organization, hiring, mentoring, delivery, and AI-augmented development workflows for teams of 5 to 25+.

Speaking

I speak about AI platforms, adoption, and engineering leadership — at meetups, conferences, and podcasts.

  • Designing AI platforms that survive real enterprise use
  • LLM gateways: routing, budgets, observability, and cost control
  • Enterprise RAG at scale: retrieval, evaluation, and operations
  • AI adoption as a product problem, not a model problem
  • From full-stack engineer to Head of R&D
